BIS Through GATE 2020 Interview Experience

Due to COVID, the shortlisted candidates for interviews were asked to select the location Delhi or the nearest BIS center for interviews. The interview panel was at Delhi only, so interviews were conducted through Video Conferencing for all other centers except for Delhi. 

I selected the Kolkata center for the interview. My interview date was 10th Aug'2020. There were 4 candidates in total at that location on that day from CS. Our reporting time was 9.00 AM. It started with document verification of all members one by one and then the interview started. Each member interviewed for 20-25 mins roughly. Each location was having different interview panel I guess. In document verification, they asked us to login to the GATE 2020 portal to show the GATE scorecard for verification of our scores. So, if possible try to remember your GATE portal login credentials.  There were 4 members (3 from BIS including 1 HR Ma'am and 1 external). My interview was mainly based on my work experience and final year projects.

I: Please introduce yourself.

Me: Told about myself, my previous and current job, college etc.

I: Are you ready to relocate to anywhere in India as we have offices across India.

Me: Yes

I: Tell me about your roles and responsibilities of your current job.

Me: Told.

I: Tell me the technology used by your organization to provide a secure connection.

Me: Told. But they said it is outdated. Like that many questions related to my current job and previous were asked eg what is agile, DevOps, etc

I: What was your final year BTech Project, and what was your role?

I: Have you worked with Oracle or which DBMS which you are using in your organization?

I: MS Access is which type of database?

I: Tell me something that you have recently implemented in your organization of your own.

I: Which programming language will you use if you are asked to develop something?

I: What is LAMP, WAMP?

I: How can you identify the name of the server (apache tomcat etc) if you are only provided with two different  URLs?

I: Difference between website and web portal?

I: What is ethical hacking?

I was already selected in DRDO. I just attended because my joining was pending. I think they were just doing formalities of an interview with me. Nothing from CS Gate topics were asked. But for freshers, favorite subjects were asked and the interview was mainly based on that. The overall experience was good. Hope it helps someone.

Result: On the waiting list. Finally, my waiting list confirmed and I got appointment
